  2. This floor lamp came up in the top five when I typed in “Halogen Floor Lamp” into Amazon.

The wattage is much, much less than a standard halogen floor lamp.

While I decided to keep it, I’m using it to populate another area of my house, and am ordering a different floor lamp.

  3. I was looking for a lamp that I couldn’t find in the stores anymore in my area. Thought I found here on Amazon, but when I got it was not the one pictured. There was something else odd about this before it was sent I was getting emails saying that the post office was not able to deliver the product. It showed up at my door a week later. There is one more thing, this item was on my wise list but it doesn’t show up. I was lucky that I saved it under my favorites because at first I thought I ordered the wrong item. But that wasn’t the case.

I have purchased other items from Amazon and never had a problem before. Will still use Amazon but will be more carefull of what I get.

  4. This looked like a nice lamp and I need more lighting in my apartment since there are no overhead lighting fixtures, but when this arrived and I put it together, it didn’t work. It seemed like it would be an awful lot of trouble to try and take it apart again, repack it, and send it back, so I thought maybe the bulb broke in shipping and I’d just replace that. Well, no hardware store anywhere near me has this type of bulb, so I ended up ordering a replacement on amazon. I was worried that the new bulb would break in shipping, but I have no idea if it did or not. The replacement bulb doesn’t fit in the the bulb socket so I’m really wondering why I have this useless “lamp” taking up space in my apartment and I feel pretty stupid now to have spent even more money on a new bulb. I would definitely not recommend this lamp to anyone.

  5. the torchiere was packaged in styrofoam, with the expensive and rare 55 watt 2d fluorescent bulb on the outside of the packaging. there was less than 1 inch of material between the bulb and the outside box. needless to say, it arrived in shards. Also, because the bulb exploded all over the package, and it contains Mercury, I am unable to return a lamp. (Mercury is a toxic waste). Do not buy from this merchant. they do not take pride in their services.

  6. We bought this lamp nearly three years ago for my son’s bedroom. Up until two weeks ago, we have never had a problem with it. The lamp took a few minutes to warm up to full strength, but gave a nice, warm glow to the room. We paid $40 for the lamp at the local Lowe’s.

Two weeks ago, we moved across town. We didn’t even consider the need to remove the lightbulb from the lamp in order to transport it. We failed to remember that the lightbulb for this lamp does not screw in, but simply plugs in. Inevitably, someone tipped the lamp to the side and out came the lightbulb onto the ground, shattered into pieces.

Finding a replacement lightbulb has been a major headache. Lowe’s and other appliance stores do not sell them in the store. I went to a local specialty lightbulb store and took home one replacement light bulb. The light gave us an extreme florescent color — too florescent for a small child’s bedroom. It reminded me of a laboratory. We paid $31 for this replacement light bulb, by the way. I returned that lightbulb and asked the store to find me a lightbulb with a warmer color (3000K vs. 3500K that we had previously bought). They checked with several suppliers and could only find a lightbulb for $45. Mind you — the light cost us $40.

I am still trying to find a suitable replacement lightbulb. . . .
